Double Eyelid Surgery: Incision Method- Swelling: The degree of swelling after the surgery may vary depending on the individual double eyelid width and skin thickness. Typically, about half of the swelling subsides within a week. Please observe the healing process for at least 1 month after the surgery. In some cases, it may take 3-6 months for the eyelids to appear natural.
- Bruising: Occasionally, bruising (blue discoloration) as subcutaneous hemorrhage may appear but usually resolves within approximately 2 weeks without the need for treatment.
- Scarring: Surgical incision scars typically stabilize over a period of 3-6 months. However, the final appearance of the scar may vary among individuals. In rare cases, hypertrophic scar or keloid formation may occur.
- Reduced Sensation: The area around the incision may experience temporary or prolonged numbness or decreased sensitivity.
- Others: Possible symptoms may include blepharospasm (involuntary eyelid twitching), dry eyes, photophobia (sensitivity to light), excessive tearing, milia, or chalazion.

What Is Double Eyelid Surgery (Incision Method)?
This procedure involves creating a desired double eyelid crease by making an incision along the planned eyelid line under local anesthesia. The skin is then sutured to form the crease. Fat may also be removed as needed to enhance the result.
Although some may hesitate due to the fact that this is a cutting procedure, it offers advantages that cannot be achieved with the non-incisional (buried suture) method—most notably, long-lasting and stable results. This technique is particularly recommended for those who have undergone the non-incisional method multiple times but experienced unsatisfactory durability.
The incision method also allows for the creation of wider or more defined double eyelid folds, which may be difficult or impossible to achieve with the non-incisional technique.
This procedure is ideal for individuals who:
・Wish to have a more wider double eyelid line.
・Have thick or puffy eyelids that make the non-incisional method unsuitable.
One of the main benefits of the incision method is the ability to achieve more clearly defined and lasting double eyelids compared to the non-incisional technique.
Features of Double Eyelid Surgery (Incision Method)
- Permanent results – no risk of the crease disappearing!
- More defined and dramatic double eyelids compared to the non-incisional method!

FAQ
What is the difference between buried suture method (non-incisional) and incisional method for double eyelid surgery?
The
buried suture method creates a double eyelid line by using threads, while the
incisional method involves making a cut with a scalpel to form the double eyelid line. Both have their own advantages and disadvantages, which will be explained in detail during your consultation.
Can I have double eyelid surgery on the same day as the consultation? Do I need to make a reservation?
Generally, it is possible to have the surgery on the same day as your consultation. However, depending on the length of the consultation and the schedule of other patients, the surgery may need to be scheduled for another day.
Please inform us when making your reservation if you wish to have the surgery on the same day. Our clinic operates by appointment only, so please be sure to mention your preference for same-day surgery when booking.
Can I have double eyelid surgery on each eye on separate days?
It is possible to have the procedure on each eye on different days. However, in this case, you will need to pay for each eye separately. The cost for one eye is 60% of the price for both eyes, so it will be more expensive than having both eyes done at the same time. Please understand this in advance.
