Dermapen 4 is an advanced microneedling device that creates numerous punctures　(micro-injuries) in the skin, stimulating the natural healing process and promoting collagen and elastin production.

The needle depth is adjustable between 0.2mm and 2.5mm, depending on the area treated and individual degree of pinpoint bleeding.

This treatment is expected to improve acne scars, skin firmness, texture, enlarged pores, fine lines, keratosis pilaris, and facial lifting effects. Multiple sessions (at least 5 or more) are typically required to achieve noticeable and sustained results, although individual outcomes may vary depending on the severity of symptoms and personal response to treatment.

Contraindications: This treatment is not suitable for individuals who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or those with the following conditions: cystic rosacea, severe inflammatory acne with exudation or other severe skin conditions, herpes simplex infection, scleroderma, skin cancer, bleeding disorders such as hemophilia, or iron allergy.
Redness, Swelling, Bleeding, and Scabbing: Redness, swelling, or a mild burning sensation typically subside within a few days to a week.
Pimples: You may experience an increase in pimples. This is usually temporary, but in very rare instances, the condition may persist for a longer period of time.
Allergic Reactions and Infections: In rare cases, allergic reactions or infections may occur. Symptoms may include excessive redness, swelling, intense itching, or warmth.
Worsening of Melasma: In some rare cases, melasma may worsen, and additional treatment may be necessary, which will incur extra fees.
Individual Variation in Treatment Outcomes: The degree and duration of skin improvement may vary from person to person depending on individual skin characteristics.

Lotion and Emulsion: You may begin using a non-irritating, alcohol-free lotion and emulsion immediately after the procedure.
Cleansing and Makeup: You may resume washing your face, applying makeup, and using sunscreen (UV cream) 12 hours after the procedure.
Bathing and Activities: Please refrain from vigorous exercise, sauna, hot baths, or alcohol consumption on the day of the procedure.
Scabbing: Please do not forcefully remove scabs. Cleanse your face gently and allow the scabs to fall off naturally.
Moisturization: Until scab formation occurs, the skin remains delicate and should be protected from moisture loss by applying Vaseline or gentle, low-irritant lotions or creams.
Cosmetics: Avoid using hydroquinone or products containing alcohol-based cosmetics for approximately 1 week after the procedure, as they may irritate the skin. For the first 2 weeks, ensure proper moisturization and apply sun protection regularly.

What Is Dermapen 4?

Dermapen 4 is a medical device developed by Equipmed (Australia). It uses fine needles that are controlled electrically for precise depth and speed of insertion. This creates numerous tiny punctures in the skin of the face, activating the skin’s wound healing process. This stimulates the production of collagen, elastin, and other skin components, improving skin texture and quality.

It is effective for treating acne scars, improving skin elasticity and texture, reducing pore size, fine lines, keratosis pilaris (KP), and lifting effects.

Multiple treatments (at least 5 sessions) are necessary to achieve optimal results, depending on the severity of the condition and individual response.

The tiny punctures created in the epidermis and upper dermis close quickly, and there are no lasting scars. While results can be seen after just one session, repeat treatments every 4 to 6 weeks will enhance smoothness and elasticity for more significant improvement in skin quality.

Please note that Dermapen is not performed on areas like the nose bridge, upper eyelids, or lips as these areas are more prone to bruising.

With its active ingredient, Vitamin A, this solution is expected to smooth the skin, lift, regenerate, and enhance transparency. It is also suitable for sensitive skin.

Dermapen 4 vs. Fractional Laser

Fractional laser is widely known as a treatment that stimulates the skin and promotes collagen production through the wound healing process.

However, Dermapen 4 is a more aggressive treatment compared to fractional lasers, especially for treating acne scars, skin texture irregularities, and wrinkles, offering higher effectiveness.

Follow-up Treatments: Please wait at least 1 month before scheduling a follow-up Dermapen treatment. Hyaluronic acid and botulinum toxin injections can be performed on the day of the procedure. However, please wait at least 2 weeks after the procedure before undergoing any IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) therapy or laser treatments.

We generally use a topical anesthetic cream (additional fee: 3,000 yen). Because the procedure creates micro-punctures in the skin, some patients may feel slight discomfort.
