This is a gentle laser treatment that uses low-energy settings to avoid causing scabbing, while gradually reducing overall skin dullness and improving skin clarity. The treatment involves the phagocytic activity of immune cells, so we recommend evaluating the results over the course of several months. Treatment with PicoSure delivers significantly greater effectiveness compared to traditional Q-switched YAG or Ruby lasers.
- Redness, Warmth, Itching, Swelling: Mild redness or warmth may occur following the treatment. These symptoms usually subside within a day, or a few days at most. In rare cases, swelling may be more noticeable. If you are concerned, please schedule a follow-up consultation.
- Treatment Response: In rare cases, the treatment may not respond as expected. Please note that no refunds will be provided in such cases. The number of sessions required and the degree of improvement in melasma may vary between individuals.
- Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH): In some cases, pigmentation may become darker within a month after treatment. In rare cases, this darkening may exceed the original pigmentation. If this occurs, gradual improvement may be achieved with the use of oral medications or hydroquinone cream (additional fee applies).
- Pimples: In rare cases, you may experience an increase in pimples. This is usually temporary, but in very rare instances, the condition may persist for a longer period of time.
- Hypopigmentation (White Spots): In extremely rare cases, hypopigmentation may occur. If you notice any such changes, please be sure to inform us at your next visit.
- Melasma: While PicoSure picosecond laser toning can improve melasma in some cases, there are instances where it may worsen. If this occurs, topical treatments such as tretinoin and hydroquinone may be used.
- Maintenance Toning: Picosecond laser toning should initially be performed every one to two weeks. Once you start seeing noticeable improvements, receiving treatments once a month will be more effective. If you notice any darkening of pigmentation, please inform us at your next visit.
- Medications: Oral medications are essential during the laser toning treatment period. The following are typically prescribed to enhance treatment outcomes and support recovery.
●Hythiol (L-cysteine)
Works with vitamin C to inhibit tyrosinase, an enzyme involved in melanin synthesis, thereby helping to prevent pigmentation and promote the removal of existing melanin.
●Cinal (Vitamin C + Pantothenic acid)
Provides antioxidant effects that help suppress melanin synthesis.
●Tranexamic acid
Suppresses plasmin, a melanocyte-activating factor involved in melanin synthesis. As it is also a hemostatic agent, it should not be used by individuals with a history of thrombotic disorders or those taking oral contraceptives. Use for three consecutive months, followed by a break of at least one month. Discontinue if you experience side effects such as abdominal discomfort, swelling, stiff shoulders, or irregular menstruation. - Cleansing and Makeup: You may gently wash your face and apply makeup starting from the day of treatment. If you are accustomed to scrubbing your face, please switch to a gentler cleansing routine. Additionally, avoid letting the shower water come directly in contact with your face and practice gentle skincare.
- UV Exposure: Please be sure to protect the treated area from ultraviolet (UV) exposure by using sunscreen or products such as U•Vlock.
- Scabbing: In rare cases, scab-like formations, similar to mascara marks, may appear on the skin after the procedure. Please do not forcibly remove the scabs; instead, allow them to fall off naturally with gentle facial cleansing.
- Skincare Products: Please refrain from using skincare products or medications that contain ingredients such as hydroquinone or retinol, which may cause peeling or redness, during the course of laser treatment.
- Other Concerns: If you have any questions or notice anything unusual, please do not hesitate to contact us.
