What Is Hyaluronic Acid Dissolving Injection (Hyaluronidase)?
Hyaluronidase dissolves previously injected hyaluronic acid used for wrinkle treatment or nose augmentation.
It’s used when too much filler has been injected or when you wish to redo a treatment.
Hyaluronidase dissolves hyaluronic acid through a reaction of “hyaluronic acid + hyaluronidase → water + oligosaccharides.”
Precautions
- Wrinkles and Sagging: Dissolving hyaluronic acid may lead to the appearance of new wrinkles or sagging that were not present before. Treatment for these conditions will incur additional fees.
- Over or Under Dissolution: It is not possible to dissolve exactly the right amount of hyaluronic acid. If the hyaluronic acid is not fully dissolved, we will offer a one-time free additional hyaluronidase injection, provided that the total amount of hyaluronidase used does not exceed 1 cc. However, if more than 1 cc of the hyaluronidase is required to dissolve the remaining hyaluronic acid, additional fees will apply. If the hyaluronic acid has been excessively dissolved and needs to be replenished with an additional injection, there will be an additional fee for the hyaluronic acid.
- Dissolution of Hyaluronic Acid in Nearby Areas: Hyaluronic acid near the target area may also dissolve during the hyaluronidase injection. If additional hyaluronic acid is required, it will incur separate fees.
- Additional Hyaluronic Acid Injections or Silicone Prosthesis Surgery: After hyaluronidase injection, please wait at least 3 days before scheduling these procedures. If bruising or swelling persists, it is advisable to refrain from additional hyaluronic acid injections. If the hyaluronic acid has not fully dissolved, the planned silicone prosthesis surgery may need to be rescheduled.
- Allergic Reactions: In rare cases, an allergic reaction may occur, which can result in significant swelling and extended downtime.
Immediate-Type Allergic Reaction
Most allergic reactions are of the immediate type, with swelling typically starting within a few minutes to several tens of minutes after the procedure. For this reason, you will be asked to remain at the clinic for about 30 minutes after the injection for observation, and only after confirming your condition will you be allowed to leave. If an allergic reaction occurs, antihistamines or other treatments may be required.
Delayed-Type Allergic Reaction
In some cases, an allergic reaction may begin several hours after returning home. Delayed-type reactions are generally milder in symptoms compared to immediate-type reactions.
