Pico Spot Laser (targeted treatment for well-defined pigmentation lesions)

This is a high-intensity laser treatment designed to target well-defined, pinpoint pigmentation (age/dark spots) or birthmarks. The laser is applied in a spot-treatment manner, creating small scabs that naturally fall off as part of the healing process. The treatment also involves the phagocytic activity of immune cells, so we recommend evaluating the results over the course of several months.

Pico Spot Laser (targeted treatment for well-defined pigmentation lesions)

  • Scabbing: Scabs may form on the treated areas, and the pigmentation may temporarily appear darker. These are signs of a normal and favorable healing process. Please do not forcibly remove the scabs; instead, allow them to fall off naturally with gentle facial cleansing.
  • Redness, Warmth, Itching, Swelling: Mild redness or warmth may occur following the treatment. These symptoms usually subside within a day, or a few days at most. In rare cases, swelling may be more noticeable. If you are concerned, please schedule a follow-up consultation.
  • Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH): In some cases, pigmentation may become darker within a month after treatment. In rare cases, this darkening may exceed the original pigmentation. Multiple sessions of Pico laser toning (at additional fee) are often effective in improving this condition.
  • Hypopigmentation (White Spots): Rarely, hypopigmentation may occur. Please note that treatment for white spots can be difficult.
  • Treatment Response: In rare cases, the treatment may not respond as expected. Please note that no refunds will be provided in such cases. The number of sessions required and the degree of improvement may vary between individuals.

  • Ointment: For pigmented spots larger than a few millimeters, please keep the treated area covered with tape for approximately ten days to two weeks after the procedure. The tape does not need to be replaced daily; please only replace it if it comes off. Please apply a thin layer of the prescribed ointment to the treated area; directly on small spots, and over the tape for larger spots that are covered. Keep the treated area consistently moisturized with the ointment, and continue application until the new skin has fully re-epithelialized.
  • Medications: Post-laser oral and topical medications are essential. The following are typically prescribed to enhance treatment outcomes and support recovery.
    ●Hythiol (L-cysteine)
Works with vitamin C to inhibit tyrosinase, an enzyme involved in melanin synthesis, thereby helping to prevent pigmentation and promote the removal of existing melanin.
    ●Cinal (Vitamin C + Pantothenic acid)
Provides antioxidant effects that help suppress melanin synthesis.
    ●Tranexamic acid
Suppresses plasmin, a melanocyte-activating factor involved in melanin synthesis. As it is also a hemostatic agent, it should not be used by individuals with a history of thrombotic disorders or those taking oral contraceptives. Use for three consecutive months, followed by a break of at least one month. Discontinue if you experience side effects such as abdominal discomfort, swelling, stiff shoulders, or irregular menstruation.
    ●Hydroquinone cream
Begin using this cream approximately two weeks after scabbing has fallen off and the new skin is fully epithelialized and dry. Apply a thin layer at night using a cotton swab, directly to the targeted area. If you experience significant redness or itching, stop using the cream and consult us.
  • UV Protection: Please be sure to take sufficient measures against UV exposure by using sunscreen and products such as U•Vlock.
  • Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH): If PIH occurs, hydroquinone cream may be used. However, do not apply it to the laser-treated area for 3 to 4 weeks after the procedure. When you begin using the cream, apply a thin layer precisely to the treated area using a cotton swab or similar tool after washing your face at night. Discontinue use if you experience severe redness, itching, or other irritation.
  • Additional Laser Treatment: Please allow at least two months between sessions for additional laser treatment of pigmentation or birthmarks.
  • Skincare Products: Please refrain from using skincare products or medications that contain ingredients such as hydroquinone or retinol, which may cause peeling or redness, during the course of laser treatment.
  • Other Concerns: If you have any questions or notice anything unusual, please do not hesitate to contact us.
